Will recipes by Paula Deen give you diabetic issues? I am not sure whether you heard it or not but one of america’s most liked cooks was diagnosed with diabetes three years ago and kept it hidden up until a few weeks ago. It came after she apparently signed a deal with Novo Nordisk to sell their diabetes treatment Victoza. For most people, they would see nothing wrong with this but for someone like me, I see alot wrong with this and I am going to converse about it on this blog!
I really think individuals have loss their integrity and revenue has become top priority. How else can you explain withholding valuable information about an illness then disclosing it when you’re able to make some money from it? She kept her illness a secret for three very long years until the right item came along for her to advertise…just ponder on that for a a little while.
It is like saying I identified the remedy for cancer but I’ll wait to reveal it right after they give me the right kind of money. How selfish would that be? But, I desire to evaluate this on a even deeper level. Here are my insights from quickly viewing her show as I surfed through channels to find something really worth seeing on tv:
UnHealthy Foods – One of her most viewed clips on Youtube is one where she places a hamburger on top of a a sugary doughnut and adds a deep fried egg and a couple of pieces of bacon. I viewed an episode about this type of food on an grown-up cartoon I use to watch called the Boondocks. They nicknamed the Luther Burger and I thought it was hilarious until I actually viewed it for real on Paula Deen’s clip. It is a very unhealthy sandwich.
Deep frying – Occasionally you want something fried and that is ok but on more than one instance I have seen her fry food items and give them unusual names like deep fried stuffing on a stick. She even deep fried a cheesecake! How the heck do you deep fry a cheesecake? That’s something you just should not do! Now that I think of it most of the cooking recipes by her were described as deep fried. And…this lady fries with bad oils like vegetable and canola oil she could at least utilize coconut oil or palm kernel oils which are more heart healthy oils.
Really likes using Butter – She just loves to use butter! While there really is nothing wrong with margarine, you just don’t have to use so much of it and I ask myself if it is raw butter from cattle that have not been treated with antibiotic drugs and growth hormones? Probably not…so in addition to type two diabetes you will probably get cancer and other sicknesses from food recipes by Paula Deen.
High calorie desserts – Have you seen her recipes for desserts? I watched her bake a cake which used tons of highly processed white sugar which could shoot anyone’s blood sugar levels through the roof and make their pancreas work way too much. I’ve seen her do it in a countless number of her recipes for desserts and all I can say is amazing. I am not at all surprised she was diagnosed with diabetes if she ingests any of the food she prepares.
It is my conviction that if you’re clinically diagnosed with a sickness such as type 2 diabetes you should be responsible enough to stop marketing the recipes that cause it. Paula Deen continued to cook the same food on her tv show without disclosing it until an opportunity came along for her to profit from her illness.
In my humble opinion, she could have disclosed her ailment a long time ago and adjusted her recipes and helped thousands of folks including other people with diabetes but so often people live in fear. The fear of losing cash, stardom, or status is often greater than the responsibility to tell the absolute truth so others can learn from your mistakes. I’m really hoping television networks will wake up and realize that a sizeable segment of the population wants an alternative to these harmful cooking shows. Where is Oprah Winfrey when you need her? Until they do, folks are going to be subject to dessert recipes cooked by Paula Deen which may give them diabetes and other diseases.
